Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Last night, Senate Democrats voted for a second time on a measure that would suspend Initiative 960.  The voter-approved initiative requires a two-thirds majority in the Legislature to increase taxes. By suspending the measure, Democrats only need a simple majority to raise your taxes.

I'm very concerned that while you are hard at work trying to make ends meet, the Democratic majority is working hard to take more of your hard-earned money.

Here is a great article from the Everett Herald to explain more about this subversion of the people's will.

Also, I invite you to read my opinion editorial, “I-960 suspension means tax increases are next.”

In short, I NEED YOUR HELP!

This weekend you have the opportunity to tell the Democrat leaders exactly what you think about their tax-increase plans.

This Saturday, Feb. 13 at 9 a.m. in the John L. O'Brien Building, Hearing Room A, the House Finance Committee will hold a public hearing on Senate Bill 6130, which would repeal the taxpayer protection initiative. Also on the agenda is House Bill 3176, which is one of the many tax increase bills introduced by the Democrats as a way to dig out of the mess they created by years of reckless overspending.

I urge you to get involved to stop this! Here's how:

Come to Olympia, attend the public hearing at 9 a.m. and voice your opinion.

After the hearing is over, come to the Capitol building and watch from the galleries as the House of Representative debates SB 6130.  Although I don't know exactly what time the bill will be brought to the House floor for action, it will likely be sometime after 1 p.m. this Saturday.

Your presence in the House gallery will send a strong signal to the Democratic majority that overturning the will of the people will not go unnoticed!

If you can attend the hearing, that would be very helpful. If not, I urge you and your neighbors to get on the phone and flood the following numbers with your calls. Tell the governor and the Democratic leaders in Olympia you are firmly against the legislation that would gut I-960 and you are against tax increases!

  • Governor – (360) 902-4111
  • Senate majority leader – (360) 786-7604
  • House speaker – (360) 786-7920
  • Toll-free legislative hotline – 1-800-562-6000

Below I have provided further information to help should you decide to join us in this fight.
